Bikers

I have been doing portraits for a mountain bike magazine called, 'Tread'. The series is of your everyday guy/girl who loves riding. Here are the first three that I've done so far.

Tree Stumps and Children

I went out shooting yesterday with a friend of mine, Marcel. He needed shots of tree stumps for a project he is working on. It was quite interesting shooting tree stumps and textures, reminded me of work done by Edward Weston and Minor White. And in no way am I not comparing my shots to theirs, it just reminded me of them. I also got a shot of Marcel's daughter, Mila (SP?), hiding/stalking in the grass.

Non-cohesive Fashion Week

These are from Fashion Week that happened about two weeks ago. They don't really work together, but rather than them just staying on my machine I've uploaded some of them. The designers are Lisa Jaffe, Black Coffee and Tiaan Nagel.

Glow

I have been using Glow for a few years now, they are a photographic rental company, based in Johannesburg, that will sort you out with anything you need. And if they don't have it, they will make a plan to find it for you. You can check the gear they rent out here or give them a call on 011 880 8124 for more info. Here's a portrait I shot of the owner, Lexi, a few weeks ago doing what he does best...?

Nike

I shot this yesterday for a Nike book coming out soon. I also shot a palyer from Bafana bafana but you'll have to wait for that one. I'm really happy with the way this shot came out.

Wonderful Machine

I was recently asked to be part of the website/agency 'Wondeful Machine'. This is what they have to say about themselves:

'Wonderful Machine is a boutique web portal dedicated to connecting the world's most talented photographers with the industry's most discerning clients.'

They have some awesome photographers on their books and I'm stoked to be part of it as well. You can see the site here.

I was also lucky enough to scrub into a surgery at the Pretoria West Hospital last week Thursday. It is for a story for Men's Health Magazine about local heroes, I can't upload any of the images yet but I took a self portrait for memories sake.

FashionWeek was held last week at the Sandton Convention Centre. I shot a few of the designer's shows backstage, including Gideon, Black Coffee, Lisa Jaffe and Tiaan Nagel. I'm going to post the images in a seperate post so hang in there.

The Details

The ol' blog hasn't seen much action of late. I've been shooting a lot for myself lately, shot some more 4/5 portraits and loads of stuff with friends. Commercially I've done an FNB ad, some portraits in Durban for 'The National' in Dubai and some other random stuff in between. You can see some of this work in the posts below. I also had an joint exhibiton with my brother, Andrew, at the Vaal University. We were asked to show our work in their gallery as we both studied there. I was also asked to give a guest lecture to the students at the university which was pretty cool. Some talented photographers coming out of the Vaal.
On a more family based note, my brother got engaged on the weekend to his girlfriend Marija. I'm really happy for him, Marija is a lucky lady. This is a portrait I shot of Andrew while I was still studying, I think he was 17 then.

Mangie Mo

Leksa got herself a horse a few weeks ago and she asked me to shoot some pics of him on Saturday. The photographs came out okay, but I want to reshoot them in better light next time. It was awesome shooting such an amazing animal.

The Street

A friend of mine, Adam, has opened up a clothing store in Greenside called 'The Street'. He stocks some awesome gear so go have a look, he is right next to Deerhunter. These are from the opening night.

Lift Me Up

My girlfriend was away on a 3 week trip to Europe so I spent a hell of a lot of time by myself. But she's is back now so all is good again.

A Day Out

Hung out with a friend of mine I haven't seen in ages, Stef, a few weekends ago. We met some friends who were filming an insert for some T.V. spot in town. And seeming as we had a Jeep at our disposal Ockie and Stef decided to get ghetto.

Wit Kak

These are from Keith and Mel's engagement party, it was a white trash theme in case you were wondering what kind of people I hung out with.

Website Shananigans

I saw this morning that my website is down. I'm busy sorting it out and it should be running properly again by the end of the day. My apologies for that.

Well, here is my lady with her new hair. I love her

Read All About It, Read All About It

Big news, I've left my agent, Glamour Mechanics, that I have been with for the past 5 years. They were amazing at getting me to where I am today but it is time for me to fly solo. And seeing that flying solo is the new black I think I have made the right decision. Don't know if there is anything else to say on the subject so here is a pic from a shoot I did for Joburg Style last week. It is was taken during a break from the cover shot.

Fly Fishing Heaven

So I said I was going to shoot a lot this weekend but I totally underestimated the fishing at Finsbury. It was without a doubt the best fly fishing I have ever experienced. Between Brendan and I we landed about 50 beautiful rainbow trout in 3 days, and missed so many more. You can read more about the trip here. Here are 3 of the pics I've worked on so far and the last one is a very out of focus shot of me with one of the many rainbows shot by Brendan.
