Xenophobia On Our Streets

My girlfriend and I decided this morning that we were going to Primrose Police Station in Edenvale, Johannesburg to donate food to the people affected by the xenophobic attacks, a trip to the store and 60kgs of mielie meel later and we were there. I was shocked at the amount of people that were there, I was thinking a few hundred but there were over 3000 at the last count. Most of the people there were from Mozambique. There is a Methodist church across the street from the Police Station so that became the base for food and safety. The women and children were kept on the church property and the men were in the veld between the church and the Police Station. We are going back this weekend so if there is anyone who would like to donate money for more food just leave a comment and we can make a plan. A 10kg bag of mielie meel costs R38.

I just decided to take a break from retouching and saw this post. It's mad how whilst busy working on something for commercial value, these just smack you in the face. These are amazing. Simply great. It's so crazy what's happening... Yeah, i'll donate some stuff... Will give you a shout...

You're a good kid, charlie brown.

You've inspired us to load the trok with some blankets and old clothes that could be put to better use. Pull round here on Saturday and we do some offloading.

Man, this is so rad of you to do. I dropped stuff off the other day and it bummed me out so much that I felt bad to shoot photos. I battle to shoot people in a situation like this cause I dont want to make them feel like I think I am better than them. These are super super good man. Nicely done.
