Tree Stumps and Children

I went out shooting yesterday with a friend of mine, Marcel. He needed shots of tree stumps for a project he is working on. It was quite interesting shooting tree stumps and textures, reminded me of work done by Edward Weston and Minor White. And in no way am I not comparing my shots to theirs, it just reminded me of them. I also got a shot of Marcel's daughter, Mila (SP?), hiding/stalking in the grass.

I'm been driving past this statue in Linden for 2 years now and have wanted to shoot it for about that long. Eventually got around to it yesterday afternoon.

Saturday- A King, Fokof and Tidal Waves at Emmarentia Dam
Sunday- Dinner at friends
All together I shot too little for what was going on but I was really enjoying being with my lady, Leksa, again.



And congratulations to Mel and Keith who got engaged on Friday, you can see just how happy Mel is by how gangster she is being.

Xenophobia On Our Streets

My girlfriend and I decided this morning that we were going to Primrose Police Station in Edenvale, Johannesburg to donate food to the people affected by the xenophobic attacks, a trip to the store and 60kgs of mielie meel later and we were there. I was shocked at the amount of people that were there, I was thinking a few hundred but there were over 3000 at the last count. Most of the people there were from Mozambique. There is a Methodist church across the street from the Police Station so that became the base for food and safety. The women and children were kept on the church property and the men were in the veld between the church and the Police Station. We are going back this weekend so if there is anyone who would like to donate money for more food just leave a comment and we can make a plan. A 10kg bag of mielie meel costs R38.

This Is Fly

The new issue of 'This Is Fly' fly fishing mag came out today, and as promised here is the screen shot of my published photograph. I'm quite stoked about it, its on page 19 if you're going to check it out.

Was in Durban last week for the SAB job and am off to Bloemfontein tomorrow and then Cape Town after that. Here are some more photographs I shot on the job.

I started a campaign for SAB on Monday and I'm going to be busy on it until the 7th of March, so I'm not going to be able to post new stuff for a while. I shot this at one of the SAB depots in Soweto. And, I'm being published next month in an online mag called, This Is Fly, which is based in New York. It's the most amazing fly fishing mag on the planet. I'll post a screen shot of the page when it's out, but go check it out now anyway. I know you're not doing anything.
